Device status LED

Normally, every mesh device has a status LED. The blinking patterns of this LED have the following meanings:

Continuously on / Continuously off

This is the normal operating mode. In mains-powered devices (e.g. Mesh Boxes), the LED is constantly on when the device has already been successfully added (provisioned) to a network. In battery-powered devices, the LED is constantly off when the device has already been successfully added to a network.

Slow Blinking (Unprovisioned)

With slow blinking (300 ms on, 700 ms off, repeated), the device is in provisioning mode. This means that the device is ready to be added to a new network. The device always goes into provisioning mode automatically after it has been reset. Devices in provisioning mode are displayed by the app when you press the "+ Add" button in the "Devices" tab.

When searching for devices in Easy Pairing mode, the LED blinks very slowly (1500 ms on, 1500 ms off, repeated).

Double Blinking (Attention)

Double blinking (150 ms on, 150 ms off, 150 ms on, 700 ms off, repeated) occurs when the app configures devices. Battery-powered devices first need to be woken up (e.g. by pressing a button). This pattern continues until the configuration interface in the app has been exited. Afterwards, battery-powered devices go back into sleep mode.

Fast Blinking

Fast blinking occurs in several situations:

  • During firmware updates (OTA): 150 ms on, 150 ms off, repeated
  • During EnOcean unpairing: 150 ms on, 350 ms off, repeated
  • During Easy Pairing: Increasingly fast pattern (700-100 ms on/off)
  • Five quick blinks (150 ms on, 150 ms off, five times): Low battery warning
  • Triple flash (150 ms on, 150 ms off, three times): Easy pairing failed
  • Double flash (150 ms on, 150 ms off, twice): Reset button confirmation or acknowledgment
  • Single blink: Battery-powered devices without a reset button blink once when waking up
  • N-times flash (200 ms on, 300 ms off): Provisioning output indication

Provisioning Status

  • Input mode: Slightly slower repeated flashing (300 ms on, 850 ms off)
  • Output mode: N-times quick flashing (200 ms on, 300 ms off)

Note: On most devices, the status LED is located elsewhere. Please refer to the description of your device for this (e.g. on Mesh Boxes and remote controls on the front, on wall switches, ceiling lights and sensors on the back).
