Reset Device

A device has to be reset in order to, for example, reintegrate it into a mesh network. The current configuration, group and scene assignments are lost in the reset. Each device can be reset in at least two ways: Via the app and via the reset button. After the reset, a device is once again in provisioning mode.

Reset via App

This is the preferred way to reset a device to factory settings, as at the same time the device is deleted from the app (i.e. from all groups, scenes, schedules, etc.) and reset. Proceed as follows to delete a device:

  • Go to the app settings (top right) and switch to setup mode
  • Go to the "Devices" tab and select the device you want to delete
  • If it is a light, turn the light on/off to make sure you have selected the correct device
  • Go to the options at the top right and press "Delete"
  • The device should now start blinking. Battery-powered devices must first be awakened.

Forget device from app

Devices that do not respond or have already been reset via the reset button can be "forgotten" from the app. When a device does not respond, after a few seconds the default option offered is to "forget" the device. If a device has been forgotten from the app but has not been reset, it is no longer accessible by the app, but may still be accessible by other mesh devices (such as wall switches and remote controls). In this case, the device should be reset via the reset button and then set up again.

Reset via Reset Button

If a device cannot be reset via the app, the reset button can be used for (almost) all devices. Proceed as follows: The device must be powered. For battery-powered devices, a battery must be inserted. Press the reset button (e.g. with a paperclip) and hold it for 8 seconds until the status LED starts to blink slowly. Release the reset button. Your device is reset to factory settings and is back in provisioning mode.

Your device does not have a reset button

Some mesh devices do not have a reset button (for example, wall switches and 4K interface of generation 1 and 2K interface).

These devices can be reset via a special reset mode in the app since app version 2.0 (and firmware version >= 5.0.1). Proceed as follows:

  • Disconnect the device to be reset from the power supply or remove the battery
  • Switch to setup mode in the app.
  • Go to "Expert settings" and press the button "Search for resettable devices"
  • You may see a long list of devices. Wait a few seconds and scroll to the bottom of the list.
  • Now connect your device to the power supply or insert the battery. Your device should now appear at the very bottom of the list.
  • For battery-operated devices: Continuously press a button on the device
  • Wait 3 seconds
  • Now press on the list entry of your device
  • The status LED of your device should now blink continuously
  • Your device is reset

Note: A mesh device with this functionality can only be reset in the first 30 seconds after connecting to the power supply. Afterwards, the device does appear in the list, but it can only be put back into reset mode after being disconnected from the power supply again.
