How do I add a device?

Every device needs to be connected to a network through a process called "provisioning". When you first receive a device, it's ready to be provisioned (indicated by a continuously flashing status LED) and can be added to your network.

To add a new device, proceed as follows:

  1. Switch to 'Setup mode'
  2. Go to the 'Devices' tab and press 'Add'
  3. Wait briefly until your device appears (note the signal strength display to identify nearby devices)
  4. Alternatively you can press the "+ Others" button at the bottom of the view to continue adding e.g. Kinetic Switches which can not be deteced via device search
  5. Select your device to start the provisioning process

Identify device

App version: 2.2

If several devices of the same type appear in the list, you can make a single device flash to identify whether it is the correct device. To do this, press the icon on the left-hand side of the list entry. After a while, both the icon on the smartphone/tablet and the status LED on the device will start to flash. For devices with a fixed configuration, e.g. ceiling lights, the lamp itself will also start flashing.

Naming the device

Give your device a meaningful name. This name should help you to find the device again later or to recognise an assignment based on its name. The names of the Mesh Boxes are no longer displayed when you switch to control mode. Only the names of the configured end devices (e.g. 'Centre skirting lighting') are displayed here.

tip

Label your devices. This enables quick assignment and unambiguous labelling, e.g. in the event of a configuration change or replacement. Use a label printer, for example, to stick the name of the device directly onto the device.
